Proving financial support for your visa application

If you are a national of Bangladesh, you must get an entry clearance (often called Visa) to travel to the United Kindom to pursue your dream of studying abroad. The application process involves the preparation of a set of supporting documents. One such item is financial documents proving affordability. The UKVI needs to know that you can afford to fund your education without any hardship to yourself or your family. At UCA Education Consultancy, we can help you calculate the amount you will need to show, as this may vary depending on the university’s location, course duration and study level.

What makes a bank statement necessary for a student visa?

While you can use a range of documents to provide affordability, the easiest way to prove this is through a bank statement from a bank in Bangladesh. This document must show the total tuition and living costs for UKVI specified period. UKVI can reject your request for a student visa to the UK if you don’t have a valid bank statement. However, UKVI only accepts documentation from specific banking or financial institutes.

Getting the right statement as proof

When preparing your bank statement for an application for a UK student visa, keep the following in mind:

  1. Student’s bank statement must be authentic
  2. The statement must be dated within 30 days of visa application submission.
  3. Must contain transactions covering the last 28 days. Please note that the UKVI may change the requirements occasionally; please consult the UCA team for the latest information.
  4. The total amount must cover the cost of tuition fees and accommodation costs.
  5. Statement should have student’s name (as printed on Passport) OR spouse/parents’ name if this is a joint account.
